OS/390 TCP/IP
  • Headed component ownership for Domain Name Server (DNS) and X Windows MVS client, serving as the coordinator and customer support reference as well as developing fixes and planning strategic direction, bringing the product up to industry standards.
  • Developed and maintained both MVS and VM TCP/IP products ensuring a coherent common code base for the FTP [pascal] client & server, Makesite, Testsite, Netstat, Miscellaneous server, and the MVS Platform and TCP/IP engine.  Also provided secondary support for NCProute, IUCV, Telnet, LPR, and LPD at various times.
  • Ported OSF/Motif to MVS/Open Edition environment, overcoming EBCDIC/ASCII compatibility issues in addition to system services and compiler environmental differences.
  • Wrote ESTAE routine that provides operating system SVC dump capability.  It provided a significant serviceability enhancement for the TCP/IP product customers.
  • Negotiated cooperation between T. J. Watson Research Center, originators of the product, and local RTP managers, producers of the product, by being accepted by both based on technical skills.
Netview Performance Monitor (NPM)
  • Conceived and implemented the change in NPM from static initialization time configuration to dynamic "exec" run time configuration command processing.  Also developed dynamic display for new network protocols.
  • Expanded and wrote module to simulate an NCP for offline testing of NPM, greatly reducing the development team members' needs for actual NCP hardware, reducing costs and speeding up development of releases to meet customer requirements.
