Information Technology of McKessonHBOC

• Provided primary MVS OS/390 systems support during HBOC Medipac to STAR conversion. A major component of this support was DASD storage management, data set tape backup and recovery, and VSAM tuning in order to minimize production cycle run times.

Novell NetWare for SAA

• Completed release development of TN3270 and TN5250 server components, maintaining customer problem resolution while meeting aggressive schedules.

• Headed component ownership for Domain Name Server (DNS) and X Windows MVS client, serving as the coordinator and customer support reference as well as developing fixes and planning strategic direction, bringing the product up to industry standards.
• Developed and maintained both MVS and VM TCP/IP products ensuring a coherent common code base for the FTP [pascal] client & server, Makesite, Testsite, Netstat, Miscellaneous server, and the MVS Platform and TCP/IP engine.  Also provided secondary support for NCProute, IUCV, Telnet, LPR, and LPD at various times.
• Ported OSF/Motif to MVS/Open Edition environment, overcoming EBCDIC/ASCII compatibility issues in addition to system services and compiler environmental differences.
• Wrote ESTAE routine that provides operating system SVC dump capability.  It provided a significant serviceability enhancement for the TCP/IP product customers.
• Negotiated cooperation between T. J. Watson Research Center, originators of the product, and local RTP managers, producers of the product, by being accepted by both based on technical skills.

• Conceived and implemented the change in NPM from static initialization time configuration to dynamic "exec" run time configuration command processing.  Also developed dynamic display for new network protocols.
• Expanded and wrote module to simulate an NCP for offline testing of NPM, greatly reducing the development team members' needs for actual NCP hardware, reducing costs and speeding up development of releases to meet customer requirements.

VM Time Sharing Systems

• Headed implementation of a major generation shift, with no previous experience, sustaining minimal customer impact while removing severe architectural constraints in an area that represented high dollar volume.

• Implemented a major MVS architectural conversion, resulting in the project receiving the highest possible rating for no adverse effects on customers.
• Provided technical research for data center's strategic direction specifically dealing with virtual storage constraints, which was accepted with acclaim by upper management.
• Moved Indianapolis data center physically to Dallas with no interruption of service to customers.  Subsequently combined services of the two locations providing customers with a single logical system image and thus greater simplicity.
• Created software utilities of original concept and design which enabled completion of tasks that were otherwise impossible or more time consuming.
• Planned and performed successful disaster recovery testing, proving hot site resumption with minimal customer and company impact.
• Implemented new office automation, replacing isolated Wang system with host connected PC-DOS, sustaining no loss in productivity.

MVS Technical Services

• Performed primary DASD problem analysis and system catalog creation.  Also serviced these and other critical system services and components.  Maintained smooth data center operations with minimum down time in spite of recurrent hardware and software reliability problems.
• Provided telephone support for application programmers and customers.  Headed IBM and non-IBM program product installation and support so that software problems were prevented rather than circumvented.  Recommended product purchases to data center director.

• Programmed IMS batch and on-line applications to maintain material systems computer parts inventory, ordering, and reporting for F-16 manufacturing operations resulting in uninterrupted production and delivery.
